On December 6, the second meeting of the Czech National Committee of Piarc took place in the premises of Kašparova Hall on Novotný footbridge in Prague. CNK members attended a physical meeting; Representatives of technical committees Piarc, representatives of state administration and academic sphere. The aim of the negotiations was to evaluate the year 2024, the presentation of plans for the next period and discussions on current challenges in the field of road transport and infrastructure. The meeting was opened by CNK chairman Václav Nevirt and 1st delegate Piarc, representative of the Ministry of Transport, Luděk Sosna.
Both evaluated the functioning of the CNK very positively, the high participation of Czech experts in technical committees, international projects and a project for young Young Roads.
Recaping of the Year 2024: The year 2024 was a period of dynamic development and significant involvement at the international level for the Czech National Committee of Piarc (CNK). The key milestones include:
- Creation of an internal workout, which serves as a source of information and expertise for the Czech Republic and Piarc members.
- Ensuring financial support for mobility of members of technical committees, which significantly contributed to the active participation of Czech experts in international forums.
- Presentation of CNK activities at significant Piarc meetings including Executive Committee and Council abroad.
- The start of the “Young Roads” project aims to increase the interest of the young generation in the road sector and the road management. This project received international recognition for an innovative approach to linking theory with practice.
Plans until 2025: In 2025, the CNK plans to organize professional symposia with international participation, focused on current road transport topics, including decarbonization and new materials. CNK also actively works on the preparation of the 32nd Road Conference in Brno and the continuation of the “Young Roads” project, which will appeal to the young generation of experts.
Changes in the structure of Piarc: The meeting was also devoted to changes in the Piarc structure after the Council meeting in Andorra in 2024. Changes in the management of the Piarc Executive Committee were announced, where the new President Emanuel Stocchi from Italy and the new chairman of the National Committees Aleksandra Skorupska from Poland was elected. The Czech Republic consolidated the position in the leadership of Piarc, while Ing. Václav Nevirt was re -elected to the Piarc Executive Committee.
Reports on the activities of the Piarc Committees: Piarc members presented the activities of individual technical commits, focused on key topics such as decarbonization, environment and innovation in the road sector. While the work teams are still settled, decarbonization and its implementation has been identified as one of the biggest challenges.
Discussions: In the discussion, new professional sections were discussed, especially in the field of decarbonization, new materials and durability. The topics for the project "Young Roads" and the Strategy of Promotion of the Road Field have also been discussed. The participants emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the need for innovation within the road sector.
