On Tuesday, June 24, the ceremonial gala evening of the Czech Transport Construction and Technology of the Year was held. The 22nd year was organized by the Association of Entrepreneurs in the construction industry and the expert jury awarded the main titles of seven projects. Other prizes were presented by professional and media partners. The public also chose its winner in the online vote and the independent categories belonged to competitors from the ranks of higher technical schools.

The event appreciating the most important transport structures and technologies realized last year was traditionally held in the impressive space of the Fantova Hall at the Prague Main Station. Among the prominent guests were Minister of Transport Martin Kupka, Vice -Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Karel Havlíček or the Mayor of the City of Prague Bohuslav Svoboda and many others.

The best of the best or title buildings of 2024

There were seven projects that contributed to the development of transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic. Their representatives took over the statuette and the title “Czech Transport Construction & Technology of the Year 2024” from the hands of the President of the Union of Entrepreneurs in the construction industry Jiří Nouza
and Minister of Transport Martin Kupka.

In the category Traffic technology and innovation The jury evaluated as the best projects:

In the category Other traffic constructions have reached projects:

  • Electrify the bus line 119 - The widely used Prague bus line serving Václav Havel Airport thanks to electrification contributes to reducing emissions CO2 and other harmful substances.
  • Bypass of Opočno - II. Phase - The bypass II/298 pays transit traffic outside the Opočno Center, reducing the noise and emission loads of the city.

  • Doubling of the Branický Bridge-Prague-Krč-Spořilov track - Thanks to the reconstruction, we managed to increase capacity for freight and passenger transport in Prague and increase the track speed to 100 km/h.

The title prizes have closed the category Highway constructions, in which the project excelled above:

  • Highway D3 310/I, section Úsilné - Hodějovice - This part of the bypass of České Budějovice pays all the remaining transport from the existing I/3 road in the section České Budějovice - Krasejovka, thus significantly improving the repair situation in the city.

Who did the public appreciated?

Common citizens could vote among the registered projects for their favorite. They rewarded the largest number of votes The feasibility study of the Prague railway junction including fast connections. It is a project that examines scenarios and possibilities of eliminating the capacity limits of the Prague node in the long term 2035-2050. The new concept expects to bring a high -speed rail to the center of the capital, which is currently presenting the most modern transport system.

The main titles were not the only ones that were awarded during the gala evening. Representatives of media and professional partners of the competition presented other 11 important projects. They appreciated both the technical and social value of the nominated buildings.

An important part of the Czech transport construction and technology is also annually ČDS student competitionorganized in cooperation with domestic technical universities and patrons from companies operating in the field of transport constructions. The competition aims to motivate students to be more interested
