On January 15, 2026, a meeting of the Czech PIARC National Committee (ČNK PIARC) took place, which was devoted to the evaluation of international activities, familiarizing the members with the results of the meetings of the Council of the World Road Association PIARC and discussing the goals and planned activities for the coming period.

The main topic of the meeting was the report from the PIARC 2025 Council Meeting, which confirmed the very strong and positively perceived position of the Czech Republic within PIARC. The Czech National Committee has been repeatedly evaluated as one of the most active national committees, mainly thanks to systematic work with experts, support for the mobility of technical committee members, intensive communication with the young generation and the academic sphere, and the close connection of PIARC activities with the Road Conference in Prague.

A significant confirmation of this position is also the planned participation of PIARC's top management at the 33rd Road Conference in Prague in 2026, as well as the interest of PIARC's technical committees in active involvement in its professional program.

Agreement on the further direction of ČNK PIARC

At the meeting, the members of ČNK PIARC were informed about the plans and priorities for the next years and clearly agreed to continue in the direction in which the Czech PIARC National Committee currently operates. They supported the further development of international activities, the systematic use of foreign experts within the Road Conference and the linking of domestic professional activities with PIARC activities, especially through technical sessions and professional seminars.

The members of ČNK PIARC also presented their reports and conclusions from the activities of individual PIARC Technical Committees and informed their colleagues about work plans for the coming period.

Czech experts are represented in PIARC technical committees by a total of 44 experts who cover most of the key thematic areas that the World Road Association deals with. Their professional outputs are a fundamental contribution to the development of the road industry in the Czech Republic and represent an important bridge between international know-how and domestic practice.

In this context, the Czech Road Society (ČSS) has committed itself to even more intensive linking of Czech experts working in the technical committees of PIARC with experts from individual professional sections of the ČSS and with the Program Committee of the Road Conference, with the aim of making maximum use of their knowledge and experience in the domestic professional environment.

The meeting was led by representatives of the Czech National Committee of PIARC Václav Neuvirt and Pavel Šušák.

In conclusion, we would like to repeat Václav Neuvirt's wish to say goodbye in our thoughts to our late colleague, long-time member of ČNK PIARC and internationally respected expert Ing. Jan Martolos, Ph.D., whose professional and human contribution remains a permanent part of the activities of the Czech PIARC National Committee.
