Press release from: 10.02. 2026
In Luhačovice, a regular meeting of the Association of SÚS ČR, which is part of the Czech Road Society, took place. The new chairman was elected Ing. Jiří Šlachta, director of the SÚS of the Karlovy Vary region, and Ing. was elected vice-chairman. Andrea Jankovcová, director of SÚS South Bohemian Region.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Deputy Governor for Transport of the Zlín Region, Ing. Radek Doležel, who informed those present about the preparation of investments and financial possibilities of ZK in the area of administration and development of the regional transport infrastructure. He expressed an interest in better connecting the activities of the Association of Regions of the Czech Republic with the professional activities of the Association of SÚS of the Czech Republic.
During the meeting, there was a discussion on the current state and progress of winter maintenance throughout the Czech Republic. It was stated that this winter is much more demanding than the previous winters in the last 4 years. This was also reflected in the twice-higher consumption of road salt and inert material than last year. In mountainous and foothill areas, the consumption of sprinkling materials is even up to three times higher. In addition, spreading materials must be imported, the quantity of which in the warehouses is dangerously decreasing.
The directors of SÚS expressed their gratitude to all their co-workers throughout the Czech Republic for their extraordinary commitment in ensuring road traffic at night and during the day, on holidays and during non-working periods.
An important topic with regard to the course of winter was also the state of budgets in individual regions this year, which is related to the decreasing financial support of regional road workers from the state. In recent years, individual regions could count on support from SFDI, which helped them to saturate financial resources for road modernization. This year, 2026, the item for the repair of regional roads does not appear at all in the current draft of the SFDI budget, which significantly reduces the financial possibilities of road workers in view of the current course of winter.
No less important topic was also the issue of traffic safety on land and emergency solutions for so-called accident sites. It emerged from the individual statements that it would be desirable to adjust the input parameters of the financial support from the SFDI program, as it is difficult for road workers to "fit" into this program. Therefore, at the next meeting, they will invite the director of SFDI together with the head of BESIP to think about and agree on a suitable adjustment of the parameters of the relevant program so that it can be actively used.
The next meeting of the Association will take place in April and June this year.
