Verification of the validity of the updated methodology for calculating the capacity of turbo roundabouts

From 2024, the capacity of turbo roundabouts is assessed according to Addendum No. 1 to TP 188. The new methodology changes the procedure for calculating the capacity of two-lane entrances. The article focuses on the comparison of the results of calculating the capacity of two-lane S/2 type entrances according to the original and updated methodology with real values ​​measured on the example of two turbo roundabouts in the Czech Republic.

Validation of the updated methodology for calculating the capacity of turbo roundabouts

Since 2024, the capacity of turbo roundabouts has been assessed in accordance with the Amendment No. 1 to TP 188. The new methodology modifies the procedure for calculating the capacity of two-lane entries. This paper focuses on comparing the calculated capacities of S/2-type two-lane entries according to the original and the updated methodology with real traffic data measured at two turbo roundabouts in the Czech Republic.
