The influence of driving mode on the emissions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from the exhaust of vehicles in real traffic

Ing. Adam Poul, Ing. Libor Špička

The article deals with the influence of the driving mode on the emissions of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) from the exhaust gases of passenger cars in real road traffic. Measurements were carried out on vehicles of different emission categories and engine design types, while sampling took place on a route including urban, suburban and highway traffic. Particular attention was paid to PAHs bound to solid particles, whose concentrations were analyzed depending on driving dynamics in different driving modes. The results show significant differences in the emission profiles depending on the driving mode and the emission standard, which has significant consequences for the assessment of the environmental impacts of transport and the design of effective measures to reduce pollutant emissions from real traffic.
